Power outage resolved on Cherokee Avenue caused by fallen tree in Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A fallen tree has caused a power outage in the Lakebottom Park area of Columbus.
The downed tree is near 17th Street on Cherokee Avenue.
Crews are now on the scene to remove the tree. According to a bystander, Katherine Trussell, the tree fell on a car around 11 a.m.
“It just was pretty scary, and loud and popping. And I saw the flames when it hit the pole, and then it came crashing down on the car and just dropped through the windshield,” she said
According to Trussell, no one was in the car when the tree fell.
“I usually park there, and my friend was (parked) right behind them. And so, I went and found them and told them that they are real lucky their car did not get hit,” she said.
According to the Georgia Power website, the outage was resolved as of 1:30 p.m.
